On July 10th, 2025 the ICE raid at Glass House Farms fundamentally changed the community. Schools were placed on lockdown, agricultural workers fled the fields, and families left traumatized as immigration enforcement unfolded along Foothill and Casitas Pass roads.
Many immigrant families continue to experience anxiety, panic attacks and emotional trauma, while some teenagers have assumed financial responsibilities after relatives were detained.
Yet, we have witnessed an outpouring of community solidarity as residents, faith leaders and organizations came together following the raid. Despite the trauma, our community has demonstrated extraordinary resilience. The raids reminded us of the strength that exists within our community.

The border often represents a physical and political divide.
Our name, Carpinteria Sin Fronteras (Carpinteria Without Borders), transcends that divide by acknowledging our shared humanity and belonging in the community.
